During a week-end in Japan, we stayed at the Azabu Court hotel near Hiroo station in Tokyo. This is a great place, with convenient stores around, but fitting japanese standard, and I got for the second time in my life the feeling being a giant. Isabelle took me in picture bellow the bathroom doors opening

Since a couple of year fanless computing is one of my hobby. SDS the company I started is focused on improving cooling capabilities of microprocessors and others chips.
Since a couple of years, AMD and Intel are using integrated heat spreader on top of there dies (especially for there Desktop products), which are supposed to ease the mechanical interface between the heat source (cpu die) and heat sink by protecting the die from crancks or over pressure during assembly process.
This piece has been the source of a lot of discussions on the Internet from overclockers as it may introduce a thermal resistance (and it does) within the cooling chain. Produced in high volume, the assembly process is also experiencing a lot of tolerance issues (as for example Intel Sandybridge IHS have a parallelism set to +/- 0.2 mm to the PCB which is huge when you think it needs to be interfaced with a heat sink), and some mechanical modification provided by the end user like sanding have demonstrated thermal performance improvement of up to 10C degrees.
But there is still a lot of debate on the Internet on the interest or not to use such piece of hardware.

Tonight is THE night for most children around the world (at least in western countries). As to participate to this unique yearly event, I just released a new version of qyshare ( for the old child that we all are), the tool that I use to host this site at home. This new version is improving file sharing capabilities by supporting AFP (a well known protocol used by Apple systems to share files), Samba/CIFS to share file with Windows clients, and security by supporting two RAID mode. All our private datas are now available through qyshare which was not the case before this release. It is available for free on http://www.qyshare.com ! I Wish you a merry christmas !

I just want to get back on an interesting subject covered hundreds of time on the web. Should I self-host my blog or use standard services provided by blog spot or other service company. There are pro and con reasons, and I will probably only focus on the pro, as this is the solution I retained for my family.
So why, should I self-host my blog ? First if you can do it at home (and this is what is done with this blog, it is hosted into my living room in France, in a small city called Rocquencourt closed to Versailles or Paris if you prefer), do it. It is highly flexible, and your content doesn’t depend on what your service provider is willing to provide you (like database access, url rewriting, or prohibits some plugins). You also have the benefit to have unlimited storage.
Wherever you decide to self-host your blog you are free to decide, and freedom is probably one of the first thing a blogger is looking for.
